Trusts & Estates Attorney / San Diego
A top ranked private client team of a global law firm is seeking a Trusts & Estates Attorney to join their San Diego group. The focus of this role will be advising high net worth individuals and family businesses on tax, trust and estate, and business succession matters, with a heavy emphasis on cross border tax and estate planning. What they need:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a law firm’s tax group or large accounting firm’s tax consulting practice;
- Strong academic credentials (JD required; LLM is a plus);
- Strong drafting, writing and communication skills;
- Experience drafting complex wills and trusts;
- Experience in advising both US and non-US clients on tax planning matters, including planning and implementing strategies to minimize global taxation and IRS compliance with regard to foreign reporting;
- Exposure to sophisticated wealth planning structures for international families across borders;
- Some knowledge of income and transfer tax rules affecting non-U.S. residents with U.S. income and/or assets, and U.S. residents with foreign income and/or assets;
- Some knowledge of rules applicable to income taxation of complex non-U.S. trusts and their beneficiaries;
- Strong project management ability; and,
- Admitted to and in good standing with the California Bar.
